My Secret Santa Present (Miller side)

Every year for Christmas my family draws names to see who we will be assigned to gift giving. This year I am proud to announce that I am my mom's Secret Santa. Through out all my life she has asked for a landscape painting from me. When I was younger I was always busy drawing and painting what I wanted to paint and draw. Once college started I only did what my teachers told me. Technically I'm still mostly doing only what my teachers are doing but this past semester my teachers wants from me and my mom's wants from me finally aligned and here I have 12 landscape paintings, or "plein air" paintings I should say. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely loved doing these paintings. As a class we would go out on sight to some of the most beautiful locations in the valley and up in the mountains and get our paints out and paint away. Some are definitely better than others, but I hope they all can be enjoyed by my mom for years to come. Merry Christmas Mom! I love you! ~Sarah

Aouda's battle against the Souix

My final project for my Concept Design class. A story moment from the book Around the World in 80 Days with a Sci Fi twist (Around the Galaxy in 80 days) Aouda is an alien princess and the ship has just been shot down by a viral humanoid alien group called the Souix. In the book there is a line where it states that Aouda is able to handle herself well with a gun. I have switched the gun for a futuristic bow and arrow.

Memory

The Ghost Bear.
This bear was more a figment of our imagination as kids. When my cousins and I were playing in the forest at my grandparents home we always thought we saw bears or wolves or deer, all kinds of things. Aside from rare occasions when deer would come in sight (those were cool) we never did get a full glimpse of any of those things. The idea behind this painting is that the ghost bear served as a guardian to us kids playing in the woods, keeping us safe from the real bears that might be hungry enough to eat us, so my little imagination thought.

Song Assignment

Be sure to listen to M83 song, Midnight City while looking at this piece. The two go hand in hand.

Man Alive! I have been busy!

Well, busy and working hard. Good news moment, I got second place in the Figure Drawing Show here at BYU, yay! This is the winning piece:

Also I'm learning maya and just completed my first model ever!!!!! :DD SO excited about that! :)
I will be making a second one before the end of this semester, but here is my seal in a view different angles:

I do think the face is still quite a bit creepy looking, (mostly because the UVs around the mouth are kind of messed up, I should have fixed that) but the texturing was fun and I'm pretty happy with it overall being my first model. The next one will be a penguin, then whatever else I can come up with from there. I still have yet to learn rigging and animating as well, which I wish this class would go over but it won't. I'll just have to learn it elsewhere. Special thanks to Josh for helping me out when I got stuck in places. I love you!
