Sad news guys, I didn't make it into the BFA program this semester. I'm not entirely surprised. I have some good stuff, but something has been missing in my work. Not sure what yet, but I have the next year to talk to professors and figure it out and make a new and improved portfolio.

Summer Sketches
Okay, so i haven't posted anything in a while, because I've just been trying to figure out what to do with my life. Reeeaaalll deep. No, not true.. I know what I want to do with my life. I just haven't posted anything for a couple of months, because... i just haven't :/ but, I have something to say now that will change the face of my blog forEVER! I've been limiting myself to keeping this blog strictly for art purposes and now I want to change that. Now this blog is going to be more than just for art, it will also be about me! Finally! My very own blog! I will still post masterpieces of mine, but I will also include a thought every so often when I feel like it.
Thought #1: It is funny to me that I actually take the time to explain this.
Thought#2: I want to put a better back ground up to make the page more interesting.
Thought#3: Writing on a blog is like writing to a wall.. Talking to a wall is still worse than writing to one. Maybe some will disagree. Either way it's not going to write back to me.
Thought#4: Sometimes I'll draw something weird or creepy and people don't like it. They've told me so. Like my mom.. But, I say, shun the nonbeliever! Some times I just gotta do something weird and creepy and let it out of me rather than keep it inside. I do a lot of nice pretty things too though, so don't worry.

This is an example of "creepy."

So is maybe this..

And this, but this one makes me laugh. Maybe its the twitch in her eye.
Interrupting of Thought#5: Isn't this a clever way to post my summer sketches from my sketch book? Rather than posting a post titled "Summer Sketches" I post.. oh wait.. it is Summer Sketches.. it's just executed beautifully :) **Pats self on the back!
Continuation of Thought#4: Well, anyways, you get the point. Here's the rest of them

Hope you enjoyed!

So, GOOD NEWS: I put in an application last week for the Illustration Program here at BYU. The lady in the office said they couldn't give the results until the end of December, but today I got an email from the Illustration head, Richard Hull, emailing me personally that they would like to give me the opportunity to study in the Illustration department! I'm sooooo excited!!! This means I can finally build up an actual schedule of classes and can relieve myself of a lot of stress that I didn't even realize was building up. Plus I'm doing something that actually excites me! Thank you everyone for your support!

So i did a series of pieces like this for my final. They are related to each other in some way or another, but the main similarity is that they are of the same medium, india ink and water color. I liked the idea of playing with value on a black back ground and building up on the highlights rather than the shadows.
I don't mean to bore you with my technicalities, I'm learning that people outside the art world like when there is a point to something, something they can learn or understand. But sometimes artists will take that and intend to drive people crazy by not giving an explanation. I find it to be amusing as well sometimes. The question is, what do you think it means? These are not commissioned pieces, so therefore it can be whatever any one wants it to be because no one asked it to mean something in particular. This piece could mean something as simply as what you see: a young girl performing at a piano recital. Or you could go a little more in depth and imagine what this girl is feeling. You could wonder why you can't see the audience? Then ask who is the audience? Maybe that's what it could be about. Who is watching this little girl? Who cares enough to listen to her music that she plays? Then you could turn it into a piece that represents parenting and relate it to your life, your child hood, you children, your children's friends.. Who listened to you growing up? Do you listen to your kids? How does that influence you? You can take this piece and go to a lot of places with it, but I think it means more when you can figure out your own conclusions on what it means to you verses what I might say it means.

This piece I did for my final and guess what I got!!! 50 OUT OF 50!!!!!!!!!! WOOOTWOOT!! XD and My teacher commentary included: Really great painting, one of the most successful in the class. I could use your painting as a good example of all the different criteria required for this project. Good job & keep up the good painting!Criteria included:
Composition; Color and Value accuracy; Detail/Naunces; Proportions, angles, and scale; Paint/Surface Quality, all of which I scored a 5/5 adding up to 50.
O my goodness! I could just melt! This semester had a super great ending!
